VIRTUAL CLASS FOR FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2013

PLEASE NOTE: THIS ACTIVITY IS ONLY FOR THE MWF SECTION. Dr. Halbert has been subpoenaed as a witness in a trial and will not be able to attend that day.

We will not meet as a class on Friday, October 11, 2013, but we will have a VIRTUAL CLASS. Do the following:

1. Post your draft to the discussion board by 8AM in the Paper 2: Third Draft Forum. It is imperative that you do so by 8AM so that your partner can get to your paper and review it in a timely fashion. Make sure your copy and paste the draft AND attach an MS Word copy of the document.

2. Download your partner's paper and open it in MS Word. Partners are listed below:

  • Baruti, Rufus A. and Schwartz, Carly L.
  • Cassell, Jonathan M and Qawasmy, Sabrina
  • Han, Sungkyu and Raj, Visakha K.
  • Pickersgill, Morgan E and Smith, Kirsten E.
  • Dombrow, Carly E. read by Taylor, Donald D read by Shin, Somang (read by Carly)

  • Bergey, Larry J.and Fulmore, Sieanna C.
  • Derocini, Andrew M. and Edwards, Brianna N.
  • Heath, Jesse H. and Horoff, Danielle R.
  • Levinsky, Melissa L. and Miller, John G.

3. Read and mark the document the way we always do.. If you know how to use TRACK CHANGES, use it. If you don't, turn on CAPS LOCK and type your comments in all capital letters. Do not delete or change anything: just type beside the area where you want to make an observation.

4. Write a note at the end that covers the following:

  • Do you think the paper is offering a critique of the teacher of Freire? Is the purpose clear? How could they clarify?
  • Are all the major points in the paper supported with solid evidence from Freire? Where could it use more evidence?
  • Does each quote have the four parts (signal phrase, quotation, citation, and discussion)? Is the citation after the quote but before the next piece of punctuation? Is there a works cited page? Does it look like the works cited page in the sample essay in our textbook? Is the entry correct?
  • What did the writer do well? What would you advise the writer to do to improve the final draft?

5. Post your response as a reply and attach the file. Do this by 5PM. People without Internet at home are expected to go somewhere (like campus) that has Internet access and do it.
