FINAL THOUGHTS ON RESEARCH PAPER AND COURSE

Please wait to write these two notes in your final class meeting.

Your final project in class is to produce two notes on separate piece of paper. Please label each note at the top as listed below and write each as if it were a letter to Dr. Halbert. Each should be between half a page to a page.

Note #1: The Research Paper

  • What was your topic and why did you pick it?
  • How did the research process go for you? What database sources helped? What mistakes did you make while doing research? What will you do differently on future projects?
  • How difficult was it to integrate research into your paper without turning the essay into a summary of facts?
  • What works well about the paper?
  • What leaves you a bit concerned about the paper? What could you have done differently to avoid that problem?

Note #2: My Writing Process and the Class

  • Having spent at least two courses working on writing at the college level, what are the biggest challenges you face in terms of writing? How will you adress these issues in future classes where there isn't the structured support of a Writing course?
  • Describe an ideal writing process as you understand it: once you get an assignment, how should you plan and execute the paper?
  • What parts of the course worked in your opinion?
  • What could be improved upon in the course design and execution by Dr. Halbert?
  • Should Dr. Halbert continue to use the Education theme for the course? If so, why? If not, what would you suggest instead?

REMEMBER: these should be on two separate pages. Please tear off spiral notebook edges.
