RESEARCH PAPER PREWRITING

There are two options for the prewriting: one for people who have a firm topic in mind and one for those seeking a topic. For either option, complete the prewriting assignment and post it to the "Research Paper: Prewriting" forum.

OPTION 1: STUDENTS WITH A CLEAR TOPIC IN MIND

For this option, freewrite (on the computer) a page or two that answers the following questions:

  • What is your specific topic?
  • Why are you interested in the topic?
  • How can you relate it to any of the monster theory essays we've read for the class?
  • What other type of information (psychological, criminal, historical, sociological) do you think you will need?
  • What do you know about the topic?

OPTION 2: STUDENTS WITHOUT A CLEAR TOPIC IN MIND

For this option, copy and paste this table into MS Word and complete it. Reread the paper topic in the assignments section, and then write out a potential topic for each option, explaining your interest in that topic and what the connection to monster theory will be.
