RESEARCH PAPER PEER REVIEW

Please read and mark your partner's paper, indicating the following as you mark:

  • Clarity of paper's overall thesis/claim.
  • Effectiveness of quotations as evidence from primary sources (quote mechanics, quality of quotes selected, clear link between quotes and the central claim of the paragraph)
  • Use of secondary sources found in research to support author's claims
  • Typos, weak transitions, unclear sections, and grammar

Then write a note that does the following:

  • Restate what you think the paper is trying to persuade the reader to believe about the primary text(s). If you are unsure, say so and suggest a thesis based on what the author has written.
  • Warn the writer if he or she is simply giving a bunch of facts from research rather than making an argument from those facts.
  • Indicate the best sections of the paper and why they work.
  • Indicate areas that need improvement and what he or she might do to address them.
