IN-CLASS WRITING: AMERICAN IDEAS

You may do this on your own paper or submit it to the Assignment slot "In-Class Writing: American Ideas."

This activity is worth five points, and it is only available during class time on 1/17.

Start by listing three ideas or adjectives that you feel capture an aspect of what the United States is as a cultural entity. The question is purposefully vague: you can go in any direction your like with these three terms.

Then pick one and write a thoughtful paragraph in which you explain why you feel that term is a valid way to think about America. The paragraph should be a minimum of six sentences, and the goal is to get your thoughts down: it does not need to be perfect writing, just coherent.
