PAPER #1: "Outline" of Paper

Having done your prewriting assignment, pick one of the topics you explored and plan out your draft. We will create a rough (but not formal) outline of the structure of your paper following these questions.

I. Introduction

A. Attention grabber that situates the reader to your specific topic. Try not to be generic.

B. What were you like before the incident?

C. A brief statement about the person/event at school that impacted you.

D. A preview of the major topics of each paragraph.

E. Your thesis: explain what you were, how the person/event changed you, and the specific impact on you now.

II. Body Paragraph: The "Before" image of you

A. Transition?

B. Broad statement of what kind of person you were releant to the change that is coming.

C. Specific example that shows who you were. Include three relevant details.

D. Conclusion about who you were before everything happened.

III. Body Paragraph: The person/event

A. Tranisition?

B. Explain who or what changed you. Provide at least one major example/explanation plus three details.

IV. Body Paragraph: Immediate aftermath

B. Explain the immediate impact of the incident in school with a clear example and three supporting details.

V. Body Paragraph: Long-term Impact

B. Explain the long-term impact of the incident with a clear example and three supporting details.

C. Conclusion

B. Restate the before image

C. Restate the event/change

D. Restate the immediate impact

E. Restate the long-term impact

F. Broaden that impact and project into the future: how will this help/hurt you in the future? If it hurts you, how might you overcome that?
