HOW TO SUBMIT A PAPER TO TURNITIN.COM FOR DR. HALBERT
[First-time Users | Students Who Have Used TurnItIn Before | Submitting Papers]

In order to help remove some of the incentive to plagiarize, we will turn papers in via Turnitin.com, a web site that helps to catch plagiarized texts. It is a simple matter of cutting and pasting.

FOR FIRST-TIME USERS:

1. In your web browser, go to www.turnitin.com.

2. If you have never used turnitin, click on "New Users" link in the upper right corner.

3. When the "create a user profile" page loads, when asked what kind of profile you want, select "student."

4. When asked for a class ID and enrollment password, use the ID/Password combo for your class. Remember that passwords are case-sensitive, so mind your upper-case/lowercase settings:

You will then be successfully enrolled in the course and will be taken to the course page on turnitin.com. Skip to the Submitting Papers section of this page.

FOR STUDENTS WHO HAVE USED TURNITIN.COM BEFORE:

1. In your web browser, go to www.turnitin.com.

2. Next to the login button, enter the email address you used to register for the class and the password you submitted. Then click on "Login."

3. You should see past classes for which you registered. Ignore them and click on the "Enroll in a Class" button.

4. When asked for a class ID and enrollment password, use the ID/Password combo for your class. Remember that passwords are case-sensitive, so mind your upper-case/lowercase settings. Once you enter the required information, click on "Submit."

You will then be successfully enrolled in the course. You should now see the new class added to your list of classes.

TO TURN IN A PAPER:

1. In your web browser, go to www.turnitin.com.

2. Next to the login button, enter the email address you used to register for the class and the password you submitted. Then click on "Login."

3. You should see past classes for which you registered. Click on the class for which you are submitting a paper.

5. Locate the Assignment this paper was written for. Click on the "Submit" next to the assignment name.

6. Type the actual title of your paper in the "submission title" box.

7. Click on the "browse" button to locate your paper on your disk or hard drive. Select the proper file and click on OKAY.

8. Click on SUBMIT.

9. You will be shown a copy of your paper. Make sure this document is the one you wish to submit. Then click "Yes, submit."

10. Print your digital receipt.

If you wish to see the "originality report" on your paper, wait a few minutes and then click on "class portfolio. In the Contents column, you should see a percentage and color indicating the degree to which your paper uses sources. Click on the colored box to see what parts of your paper came from other sources. MAKE SURE THAT IF YOU REVISE YOUR PAPER AFTER THE INITIAL REPORT THAT YOU RESUBMIT THE PAPER.
