Read, mark, and respond to the first chapter of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao (Course Documents folder)

In addition to the required short stories by Díaz, for extra credit, you can read, mark and post a one-page response to the first chapter of his Pulitzer Prize winning novel. A copy is available in the Course Documents folder, under "Junot Díaz Readings (Extra Credit). Post your response in the Extra Credit forum of the discussion board.

Attend the Junot Díaz Keynote Address on November 4, 2011, at 7:30 PM Science Center 213 (Ticket Required)

In addition to attending the required Q&A session with Junot Díaz at 3:30 in ATC 101, you can opt to go to his Keynote address that evening. A ticket is required: please let me know by the start of class on November 2, 2011 if you need a free ticket. To get the extra credit, attend the speech and then post a one-page response to it in the extra credit discussion forum.
