PAPER #2 PREWRITING

Review the topic expectations for Paper #2 and complete the following questions. You should post a copy to the "Paper #2: Prewriting" forum. Make sure to attach your MS Word file to the post.

1. Which educator from your past (or current) school experiences are you going to write about in your paper? Make sure you identify the school, the name, and the subject taught.

2. Was this educator a banker, a problem-poser, or did he/she teach with a blend of both styles?

3. Freewrite a paragraph giving an example of how this teacher displayed either banking or problem-posing behavior.

4. Was this teacher an effective educator? Why? Be careful as you respond to this question: there are plenty of unlikable teachers who are good educators, while some highly likable teachers are very poor educators.

5. Identify three quotes from Freire's essay that apply to the educational interaction that you are analyzing. For each quote, briefly explain what specifically links the quote to the teacher's behavior.

6. Do you see this paper as simply praising/criticizing the teacher, or does it have a larger purpose? Is the goal to suggest better methods of teaching or to suggest methods that should be avoided? Are you challenging the ideas expressed in Freire's work?
