Make up Assignment for Junot Díaz

Those of you who were unable to attend the Junot Díaz Q&A must do the following by Monday, November 21st:

1. Read and mark the first chapter of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Woa. Note that you cannot collect extra credit for this reading.

2. Do one of the following:

  • Read two articles about the Trujillo dictatorship in the Dominican Republic. Compare what you learned to narrator's comments about Trujillo. In a 2-page, well organized and edited paper, indicate how accurate the narrator's comments are.
  • Read two interviews with Díaz and then use those insights in a 2-page, well organized and edited paper to explain a quality, theme, or technique used in the first chapter.

3. Rename the document file name of your paper to follow this convention: LASTNAME_FIRSTINITIAL_DIAZ.docx (or .rtf).

4. Email the paper to Dr. Halbert as an attachment with the subject line "DIAZ MAKE UP PAPER" by 5PM on Monday, November 21. No late submissions accepted.
