POE POEMS: GROUP ANALYSIS
In your groups, you will each need to participate in analyzing your assigned poem from this list:
- The City in the Sea" (744-745)
- "The Sleeper" (745-746)
- "Ulalume" (757-759)
- "Alone" (812)
- "The Conqueror Worm" (814-815).
Your group will need to present the poem to the class. Your presentation should do the following:
- Present a thesis that argues a specific interpretation of the poem's overall point
- Provides interpretations of at least three major images or sections of the poem to show how the poem sets up a mood or concept and then ultimately makes its point
- Offer specific quotes to help prove the group's claim
Everyone in the group should be prepared to participate in the discussion.
