VIEW THE DOCUMENTRY ADELANTE

Go see the 30-minute documentary Adelante in ATC 101 on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 12:15. The film is about the integration of Latino Catholics into the predominantly Irish congregation of St. Patrick's Church in Norristown. You can read more about the film,. but my interest for this class is that this may be a prime example of a modern contact zone moment. To get the extra credit, go to the film, make eye contact with me and wait for me to wave, watch the film, and then post a paragraph in the extra credit section outlining what issues surprised you.

WRITE AN EVALUATION OF THE COURSE

While the course evaluation system is very numerical, I am much more interested in qualitative feedback about the class. To get extra credit, please write me a letter of at least three-fourths of a page that discusses the strengths and weaknesses of the course, what key ideas about American literature and American culture surprised you or feel like they will stick with you, and which readings were your favorites and least favorites. You should treat this like a personal letter to me, and I promise not to read them until after grades are submitted.
