EXTRA CREDIT

VOTE IN THE PA PRIMARIES

Voting is one of the fundamental rights that many groups have fought to get. Exercise your right to vote by participating in the Pennsylvania primary on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. PA law requires that voters in the primary be registered voters affiliated with a specific party: non-citizens, non-party aligned, or non-registered voters cannot participate. Here are your options:

  • Option 1--Vote: make a copy of your voter registration (redacting your party affiliation because it's none of my business) and take a selfie in front of your polling place with something that shows it's a voting place in the picture. Submit both by email to me. DO NOT POST. Label email VOTER EXTRA CREDIT ENG 255.
  • Option 2--Write:
    • If you are ineligible to vote because of age or citizenship, who would you vote for and why? I expect a page response that details key statements or plans by the candidate as to why you support him or her, and I want at least one reason that you would reject at least one other candiate. One page of edited text needs to be posted to the extra credit forum on the discussion board.
    • If you are eligible to vote and have either not registered or choose not to, explain why. What would it take to get you to vote?

Possible Points: (up to) 10 points (depending on quality of written response)
Due Date: April 30, 2016
